B-Mets Front Office Staff Member To Take Flight With Blue Angels
6/27/2009 (Source: Binghamton Mets)
As excitement for the Greater Binghamton Air Show increases, several Binghamton residents are receiving once in a lifetime opportunities compliments of the Blue Angels. One of those residents is the Binghamton Mets Front Office member Connor Gates, who will take flight with the Blue Angels on Tuesday, June 30th.
After an 11am flight briefing at the Great Binghamton Airport, Connor will board an F/A-18 Hornet for a 2:30 pm flight with the legendary Blue Angels.
The Blue Angels are the U.S. Navy’s Flight Demonstration Squadron. A Blue Angels flight demonstration exhibits choreographed refinements of skills possessed by all naval aviators. It includes the graceful aerobatic maneuvers of the four-plane Diamond Formation, in concert with the fast-paced, high-performance maneuvers of its two Solo Pilots. Finally, the team illustrates the pinnacle of precision flying, performing maneuvers locked as a unit in the renowned, six-jet Delta Formation
“This is definitely an incredible experience” says Connor. “A flight with the Blue Angels is not something that comes along everyday and I am incredibly honored that they selected me. My goal is to not need the little bag they give you in case your stomach can’t handle the movements, but I’m not making any promises”.
The Blue Angels Flight Commander will be on hand at NYSEG Stadium on July 3rd to throw out the ceremonial first pitch before the B-Mets 7:05 pm bout with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats.
