The Mets recalled catcher Josh Thole from Double-A Binghamton on Monday, and he is expected to join the club for Tuesday night's game against the Rockies.

Thole, New York's 13th-round Draft pick in 2005, has spent the entire season with the Binghamton Mets and was third in the Eastern League with a .328 batting average. In 103 games, the 22-year-old backstop was also tied for the team lead in doubles (29), and third in RBIs (46) and runs scored (48).

The lefty-hitting catcher displayed consistency this season, hitting .328 against both righties and lefties this year.

Thole was named to the '09 Eastern League All-Star team but couldn't play because he missed time from June 30-July 18 with a dislocated left thumb. The Illinois native also got an invite to Major League Spring Training this year, hitting .250 (3-for-12) in 11 games.
